You are most likely NOT confusing hunger for thirst, diet culture has just led you up yet another garden path.
Hunger and thirst create completely different sensations in the body and the only reason you may be confusing the two is that you are not trusting your body.
If you try to trick it by drinking when hungry, you are only temporarily avoiding your natural hunger cues. It is just another way of trying to avoid food to manipulate your weight....
